The Growing Space, overgrown and full of brambles.....
...had to be cleared, ready for new beds.
The compost area...
..and new planting beds were made.
The planters were filled with lovely rich soil..
..and seeds were sown.
Work continued; the greenhouse needed re-building,..
..first, carefully taken apart..
..and stripped down to ground level,..
..new brick walls and planting troughs were built..
..and the greenhouse became the hot house..
..where chillies and exotic plants are grown.
The gardens took shape..
..and thrived. Success!
Expansion continued with the Resources Room..
..providing a place to sit (and drink tea!) both inside..
The side gardens were redesigned..
..and work began ..
..to transform the area..
.. into a tranquil place full of plants and flowers..
..all to beautiful effect.
Bracken was cleared from beside the garage..
..the walls decorated with mosaics made by..
centre users, and installed with their help..
to create a quiet, private place to sit.
The old car park..
..was torn up..
..and gardens carefully planned out..
..with brick bordered beds..
and trellises -
..to create the back garden as we know it now..
..complete with sculptures.
Beds were cut from the banks..
..to provide new growing opportunities..
..that quickly established.
Another part of the car park was dug up..
..and re-shaped to create the nursery gardens.
Features like this bridge were commissioned..
..to transform the area to a wonderful garden full of interest.
The gardens are now enjoyed..
..by all the community.
